Being the dub fountain from which hip hop, drum ‘n’ bass and many other currently popular forms of dance music were born, Jamaica is now happily reappropriating a lot of the new sounds it inspired – ‘crossover’ works both ways, and this weekly evening hopes to cover both directions. The Controverse All Stars, Skank Around Soundsystem and their guests will be heating up the dancefloor as they hop from hip hop to ska to techno to dancehall to breakbeat to rocksteady to ragga to jungle … and everything in the middle.
