Poetry has always had a poor rap in Hong Kong, but the recent visit of Benjamin Zephaniah on January 19 showed things are changing. An installation poetry exhibition, held as part of the City Festival, is bringing verse to the people in much the same way as is done on underground trains in London. A dozen of the more hip restaurants and shops in the burgeoning SoHo district are allowing visual artists and local poets to team up and turn their windows into poetry hoardings.
